Announcements

WELCOME VISITORS!   Thank you for worshiping with us this morning. Please fill out the Visitor Cards and place them in the alms basins during the offertory so we can send you our newsletter The Grapevine. Please join us for coffee and fellowship in the Parish Hall following the service.

PHOTO DIRECTORY Photo taking is underway. If you did not make an appointment, you will be contacted in the next few days to schedule one.

Sunday School and Adult Forum – are not meeting today but will resume at 10:15 next Sunday.

Youth Groups are not meeting today. On Sunday, September 12, the Junior High Youth will meet as usual at 4:00 PM. The Diocesan Division of Youth (DOY) Senior High Weekend is September 10-12 - see or contact Nick Gault (327-7401). Watch the website and Facebook for more happenings.

EYC Graduates – will have an organizational meeting on Sunday, September 26, 6:30 PM in Ruddiman Hall.

THE WEDNESDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY – meets at 10 AM in the upstairs adult education room. Pastor Bruno returns this week as our mentor. Come join us!

Wonderful Wednesday – fellowship is underway again. Dinner will follow the Eucharist with Healing every Wednesday. This week Rev. Anne will present a program on Classic Cathedrals.

Music Program: St. Cecilia’s Ensemble – practices on Wednesdays - 4:30-5:30 PM in the choir room. The Ensemble includes girls from grades 6 to 12. Contact Cynthia Ramseur.
Adult Choir practices on Wednesdays at 7 PM. We began with a good group but welcome any who would like to sing - at either the 9 AM or 11:15 AM service.

Daughters of the King – meet Tuesday at the home of Marcia Blevens, 3625 Portree Place at 6:00 PM. A light supper will be provided.

St. John’s Preschool – is hosting a Family Live Music Night in the Great Room of the Parish Hall on Saturday, September 11, 7 PM until 9 PM. It’s free! Guest performer is Ken Gaines, the 2005 Texas Music Awards Singer and Songwriter of the Year. Donations will be accepted to benefit the preschool bell choir instruments. Also, they are taking subscriptions or renewals for The Gazette - they receive $5 for each paid subscription - forms are available in the school and church offices.

St. John’s Name Tag – order forms are on the Usher Table and the Ministries Table in the Parish Hall. If you would like to order one, please complete the form and return to the church office with your check for $10.00.

The Book Reading Group’s – selection for the September 30 dinner and discussion is Gilead by Marilynne Robinson. A limited number of books are available in the church office for $10.00.

The Monthly Book Swap – is Sunday, September 19. Bring your books to the Great Hall and find the Book Swap table. After that Sunday the books will be moved to the book case in the Patience Sunday School room upstairs.

Cursillo Weekend – is October 21-24. If you are interested in attending or know someone who is, contact Foley Ranson or Lena Melton.

Saints & Sinners’ 17th Annual Original Texas BBQ Chicken Dinner is October 30 from 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM. A donation of $7.00 will get you 1/4 BBQ Chicken, Cole Slaw and BBQ Beans. Tickets are available from any Saint or Sinner and from the Church Office.

The Saints & Sinners will meet on September 9 for dinner at 6:30 PM. Call Chuck Aldrich (875-2673) or Dane Turner (875-0082) so they will have a dinner count for the meeting.

Church Offices closed Nibday, September 6 in observance of Labor Day

NOTES TO THE CLERGY – Please use the “A Note to the Clergy” forms which are in the back of the church whenever you have news, prayer requests, etc. to communicate to the minister, also please put your name on it so that we can get in touch with you if we have questions. It is hard remembering everything we are told after a service, as well as who told us what. If there are “to dos”– – this is helpful.
